The Ledger of Life is a premier gospel magic presentation and object lesson co-created by master storyteller, clown-arts educator, and author Bruce "Charley" Johnson alongside veteran evangelistic illusionist Duane Laflin (founder of Laflin Magic).
This routine combines the theatrical structure of traditional parlor magic with a profound, visual metaphor about human choices, legacy, and grace. Rather than focusing on deceptive digital dexterity or rapid sleight-of-hand, The Ledger of Life relies on an elegant, book-based switching or transformation mechanic that allows the performer to focus entirely on storytelling, pacing, and audience connection.
